Q. What is the enrollment process like after I submit the online registration form?
A. As soon as you complete and submit the online registration form, it will be placed in the queue of all pending registrations. When it becomes your turn, we will give you a call to the filing person as indicated on your submitted form in order to complete the enrollment process over the phone.
Q. Will there be an available spot for my child?
A. We can't guarantee it. We encourage all families to register as soon as they can when enrollment for the coming school year opens. You are welcome to call us or send us an email to see if there is an update to the status of your registration.
Q. My child was previously in an Arabic language program and has some prior knowledge, will you test them to see where they stand?
A. Yes. All students who had taken Arabic prior to our program and who we believe may have retained enough information to be placed at any higher level will be scheduled for a placement test on Google Meet with one of our dedicated proctors.
Q. What ages do you accept into the Youth Literacy program?
A. Our youngest class is preschool, which only children aged 4, give or take 6 months, can enroll in. After preschool begins our level grades from Level 1 - Level 8, who's students' ages range from 5-13 years old.
Q. Do you assign students of different ages to the same class?
A. No. The overwhelming majority of our classes contain students of the exact same age. At times, there may be a small range of a 1-2 year difference in ages in our upper level classes, usually due to parents initiating their child's Arabic language education very late.
Q. Does the teacher speak English or Arabic to the students?
A. Great question! The teachers speak as much Arabic as the students in the classroom can understand. Our goal is to decrease the amount of English spoken as the school year progresses.
Q. How many students are enrolled into each class?
A. We average 20 students per classroom throughout the school.
Q. Do the students receive any textbooks?
A. Yes. Textbooks produced or compiled by Albayan Institute will be given to each student at the start of the year. More details will follow after the enrollment process is complete.
Q. Are the students assigned any homework?
A. Yes. Excluding the preschool classes, all level grades receive some amount of homework to do throughout the week.
Q. Are the students provided lunch throughout the day or do we have to send one with our child?
A. Students are provided a free healthy lunch throughout the day in the school cafeteria. All meat items will be halal slaughtered meat. You are also welcome to send a lunch with your child if you prefer.
