Mariam Yassine

Mariam Yassine is a community leader, social justice activist, humanitarian and instructor. Born and raised in Lebanon, Mariam taught middle school students for over 10 years while achieving a BA and MA in World History. She emigrated to the US in 1986 where she continued her activities with local educational institutions and community organizations. Mariam served as a principal at Al-Noor Arabic School in Windsor, Canada in 2001, participated in a research study conducted by Wayne State University (2003-2009), and worked with Michigan State University in another research study (2009-2011). Mariam established Albayan Institute in 2003 for teaching local youth the Arabic language, and continues to administer it as the principal. She has developed a curriculum specifically catered towards effective and efficient education of generations of English-speaking youth, while concurrently integrating and applying new techniques and technologies. Mariam achieved a Master’s Degree in Social Justice in 2019, and her community efforts continue through both direct involvement in local activities and supporting the efforts of youth groups and other organizations.

Sonya Elhusseini

Sonya Elhusseini was born and raised in Dearborn, MIchigan. Mrs. Elhusseini has extensive experience in the banking, customer service and sales industry. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Wayne State University in 2005 and her M.B.A. From Davenport University in 2021. She has three children and actively volunteers in their school and sports activities.

Dr. Boshra Almoayed

Dr. Boshra Almoayed is a board-certified psychiatrist and founder of Feeling Good Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as many other professional organizations. She was born in Sanaa, Yemen then moved to Saudi Arabia and graduated as one of the top students in Saudi Arabia, earning her a scholarship to medical school. She attended King Abdulaziz University's College of Medicine, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Almoayed then moved to the United states to complete her residency at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington D.C. She continued pursuing an excellence in higher education by obtaining a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Georgetown University. Dr. Almoayed practiced psychiatry across the United States while also teaching residents and medical students of various hospitals, one of which is Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Almoayed was offered to work at Saad Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia where she progressed to take on the head of the department of psychiatry. Dr. Almoayed became an internationally recognized psychiatrist and has treated VIP patients around the world. She is a world-renowned speaker and is invited to give lectures about mental health and self-development in the United States, Middle East, and Europe regularly. As a Doctor with over 25 years of experience practicing psychiatry and psychotherapy, Dr. Almoayed strives to give back by supporting many charitable organizations. With the love she has for medicine and her home country, Yemen, Dr. Almoayed founded a non-profit organization, the Yemen Crisis Foundation, where she continues to help bring mental health, and other, services to those in need.

Dr. Ali Cherri

Dr. Ali is a Doctor in Mechanical Engineering since 1997 from University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Ali holds over 40 years of professional education, teaching, industrial experience and training. He worked as a Curriculum Manager/Certified Instructional Developer for over seven years of curriculum management, course/program development, and industrial-instructional engineering training. He has trained thousands of professional students in his career , and is recognized as a key contributor to efficient educational curriculum implementation and development

Mahdi Cherri
|
Mahdi began as a volunteer with Albayan in 2014, with a goal of fostering a better relationship with families and children of the community. Now Mahdi holds a position on the board and is helping initiate and lead many programs with Albayan Institute.
